There are many reasons why your computer could be slow

Filed Under (General) by Derek on 28-06-2008

I’m myself pretty much a hard corecomputer user, couple of friends have mentioned that if a new computer needs tobe tested in just a couple of hours, it should be given to me. Simply because mynormal computer workload is pretty much at maximum at all times. I have Mozilla
FireFox open with 20-50 different tabs, couple of Adobe Acrobat windows, couple of word files, Editplus (text editor) with 30 tabs, plus of course AdobePhotoshop, mail programs, MSN and these are just the main things.

So if a PC has a reason to strike for some reason,it should definitely be my computer. However, luckily I haven’t really had anybig problems except for speed issues due to my hardcore memory and CPUconsumption.

Most of the ‘computer speed up’ software out there focuses onlyon ONE problem area, but with a user like me, its far from enough. Products like”PC Doctor” and “Registry Fixer” are decent products but they leave alot of your computer’s speed potential unused (I know that after I have tested theproduct Vista Speed Secrets).

Vista Speed
Secrets system covers all important areas so yourcomputer is literally forced to perform at maximum speed and that’s why I woulddefinitely recommend the Vista Speed Secrets to everyone who feels their computeris running slower than it could be should be.

While I use my laptop around 16 hours a day, Ihaven’t really done much to keep it running fast and safe. I run a firewall andanti-virus software. In the past I have tried some spyware software pieces, registry cleaners and so on, but overall they haven’t done much good, some of
them have actually screwed up my computer.

And this makes me happy to see a tested product, which teaches me how to do it all safely. At least for me it worked like atreat, really made my PC faster again and at the same time didn’t cause it toblow up or anything like that.

Did you know that someanti-virus software might make your computer virus-free but at the same timetake up so much of your PC resources that it makes your computer reaaaly slow?

Using VistaSpeed Secrets

Vista
Speed Secrets has been designed so that you run through the entire program stepby step. First you get your machine cleaned up and to get familiar with software(btw, all the software names there are freeware, so no extra costs). It takessome time the first go around but it’s very clearly explained. You’ll learnexactly what to do and most importantly, what NOT to do.

How to use the software and a number of built-inWindows utilities to fix your slow computer. After that there’s a regularmaintenance plan outlined that will take much less time but will keep yourmachine in great shape.

Usually people charge a lot for just a registry cleaner, but in this package, its included! With this program you really get your money’sworth plus more

What I didn’tlike about Vista Speed Secrets?

After going through the system I’d say there are onethings that I don’t like about it. Firstly, being a hardcore computer user Iknow enough about computers as well as different tasks. What I don’t know muchabout is how to speed upmy computer, I know a few things but I haven’t really had any time to workon obtaining knowledge in that area. And here I’d like to see special chaptersthat would be combined of the section of the book. There could be like 3
different combinations, one for hardcore users like me, another forintermediate PC user and finally one for hardcore amateur. Right nowthe sections of Vista Speed Secrets all together last just a bit less than anhour’s read, but for me it would be enough to have a 10-15 to get straight tothe point.

Another thing, the author of the Vista SpeedSecrets, claims he’s a computer speed-up expert. I know for a fact that he isn’t.  Rather he’s an information expert, a good leader in combining a group of people around him and getting great products done. And the fact that he’s calling
himself a computer speed-up expert at first made me a bit suspicious about theproduct. But the product turned out to be great. So I would suggest him to callhimself the average Joe who has combined a really great product for people justlike himself. It would take you weeks to find all this information all byyourself, he has done that for you.

Overall impression

Vista Speed Secrets haseasy-to-follow, professionally produced and well put together ebook, but inaddition to that, every single chapter also has notes attached whichprovide additional notes that will further enhance your PC’s performance. So i f your computer is running slow and you want to speed it up today, Vista SpeedSecrets is the system you should use.

How Not To Build a List

Filed Under (online marketing) by Derek on 28-06-2008

Trying to build a list can become your worst nightmare if you do not take care to do it in the right way. Here’s several ways to destroy your own business while you’re trying to build it.

Your first mistake would be not having a niche, or target market. Do not try to address the entire online world with your list. Instead, focus on a group of people who want the information you have. Why would you send your message out to any others? That would be like standing on a street corner, wearing an advertising “ sandwich board” to promote your products.

Next, if you do not create and nurture an online, personal relationship with your customers you won’t have any customers. People who are hungry to buy your products want to know who they are dealing with…that would be you. There’s so much hype and false claims online today that the average customer doesn’t believe most of what they read. They want to trust you. Give them reason to do that and you will have a customer for life.

If you don’t allow your customers to become part of your virtual world, you will lose them. Ask questions that you want your list to answer. Use surveys. People don’t like it when they feel like they are just bodies with a credit card. They want to believe they are an important part of your business and asking for responses from your customers will have more than one benefit for your business.

The major benefit for you when asking your list members to help you with something…survey or just one or two questions…is that you will probably get multiple answers that will identify exactly what your readers want. Fill that need and you will create major loyalty that translates to sales.

One thing to remember here is to always identify and thank the list member who submitted the question you are addressing. If that happened to you, how would you feel? I would guess the answer to that question is “Special.” It might be a good idea to get permission to use real names, if your customer isn’t using a screen name.

One last way to ruin your business is not to include an unsubscribe link in your emails. People want to know that they can get off your list easily, if they want to. Make sure you respond to that unsubscribe request immediately, without any hesitation, or set it up on an autoresponder. Believe me, you do not want to be branded a spammer, unless you are tired of having a successful business.

5 Reasons Why the Internet Can Be Dangerous for Children and Teen

Filed Under (Computer Tips) by Derek on 10-06-2008

Are you the parent of a child or a teenager who wants to use the internet, if they don’t already? If so, you may have some concerns. Yes, it is typically safe for your child to use the internet to do research for school projects, but did you also know that children and teens are now using it to communicate with their friends or other internet users? This is how and when using the internet at a young age can become a problem.

As important as it is to hear that your child can find themselves in trouble online, if you do not know what internet safety steps can help to protect them, you may be looking for more information. You also may be curious as to what it is about the internet that can be so dangerous. For your convenience, five reasons why internet use can be dangerous for children and teenagers are highlighted below.

1 – False Identities Are Easy to Create

Making new friends online is easy and convenient, but it is much different than doing so in person. Why? Because you can’t see who is at the other end of the computer. The internet makes it easy for someone to be anyone else in the world. For example, if your child is using social networking websites online, they have to enter in their age. They could easily lie themselves or they could be talking to someone else who is.

2 – Internet Predators

As it was previously stated, the internet makes it easy to create a new, false identity. Often times, the individuals who lie about their ages are internet predators. They are the ones who target children, like yours. Unfortunately, many children, teenagers, and their parents cannot tell an internet predator until it is too late, like when the predators try to approach your child or contact them in person.

3 – So Many Websites To Choose From

What is nice about the internet is that you have so many websites to choose from. In fact, that is why it is a good way to research school projects. With that said, having so many websites to choose from can be dangerous. Your child can gain access to social networking websites, adult chat rooms, pornographic websites, and websites that are violent in nature. Unless you have parental controls set up, your child can easily access any type of website with a standard internet search.

4 – Not All Information Is Private

Unfortunately, many individuals, including both children and parents, do not know that the information that is posted online isn’t always private. For starters, most teens have their MySpace profiles set to public, as opposed to private. This means that anyone can view it. There are also online message boards that are indexed by the search engines. This means that others can view the conversations that were discussed, even years down the road.

5 – They Are In Control

When your child uses the internet, they are the ones who are in control. This can be okay if your child is older and mature, but you honestly never know. You may ask your child not to communicate with strangers online, give out their phone numbers, or share pictures with strangers, but that doesn’t mean that they will follow your rules. For that reason, if you do let your child use the internet, be sure to monitor their use.

Telephone scam from 07 numbers

Filed Under (scams) by Derek on 05-06-2008

Hi {!firstname}

There was an item on the BBC radio at lunchtime today about a
telephone scam

You get a call on your mobile - it only rings once or twice then
cuts off - your mobile will show a missed call - even if you do try
to answer immediately you do not get connected to anyone - if you
try to ring back, thinking it’s a missed call, you only get a
ringing tone and no-one answers

the number of the caller will be something like 07016 and you think
it’s a mobile

in fact 070 is what they call “follow me” numbers - it’s a number
which you can ring and the person can redirect the call to their
home, their mobile, their office, or wherever they are - the number
in itself should not cost you any extra to ring and there is
nothing in itself suspicious about an 070 number

However, the scam is that, if you listen carefully when you try to
ring a scam call, it rings once or twice, then there’s a gap of
silence, followed by more ringing - what they think the scammers
are doing is letting the call be answered by a answering machine
and instead of you getting a message they play back to you the
sound of a telephone ringing so you don’t realise it has been
answered

The authorities are not sure how the scammers are making money out
of this, but the reality is that people are being charged for calls
they don’t realise they are making - because all they’ve heard is a
ringing tone they don’t realise they’ve been connected - when they
get their mobile phone bills they are very surprised to see they’ve
been charged

so the advice is, if you get a missed call and it’s an 070 number,
don’t ring back unless you’re absolutely sure you know the person
who’s rung you,

If you have scams you wish to share be sure to let us know
